This Privacy Policy explains how ComPhysics accesses, processes, stores, uses, and shares information through its website and software products.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how ComPhysics (“ComPhysics,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) accesses, processes, stores, uses, and shares information through our website and software products.

This Privacy Policy applies to:

  • The ComPhysics website at https://comphysics.com
  • E2M-Win for Windows
  • E2M-iOS for iPhone and iPad
  • ComPhysics Green UV for iOS and Android

The data practices of each product are described separately because the products do not all use the same technologies or services.

2. ComPhysics Website

2.1 Information Processed by the Website

When visitors use the ComPhysics website, the website or its hosting system may process the following information:

  • Information submitted through contact forms or comments
  • Name and email address entered by the visitor
  • Website address entered by the visitor
  • IP address
  • Browser type and browser user-agent information
  • Date and time of access
  • Basic server and security logs

2.2 Purpose of Website Data Processing

The information may be used for:

  • Responding to inquiries
  • Preventing spam, fraud, and unauthorized access
  • Maintaining website security
  • Operating and improving the website
  • Maintaining records of communications

2.3 Media Uploads

The ComPhysics website does not currently provide a general-purpose user media upload service. Visitors should not submit confidential or sensitive information through public comment fields.

3. E2M-Win for Windows

3.1 Local Processing

E2M-Win is desktop software for electromagnetic simulation on Windows. Simulation projects, calculation results, exported images, and CSV files are processed and stored locally on the user’s computer.

ComPhysics does not automatically receive or access the user’s simulation models, project files, proprietary engineering information, calculation results, or exported files.

3.2 Personal Information

E2M-Win does not request or automatically transmit directly identifying personal information such as the user’s name, postal address, telephone number, payment information, or account credentials to ComPhysics.

3.3 Crash and Support Information

Windows or the user’s computer may create local error or crash logs. Such information is not automatically transmitted to ComPhysics.

A user may voluntarily send logs, screenshots, project information, or other diagnostic information to ComPhysics when requesting technical support.

Any information voluntarily submitted for support will be used only to investigate and respond to the support request, unless otherwise required by law.

3.4 Internet Connection and License Functions

Some versions of E2M-Win may connect to a ComPhysics-operated service for software updates, license validation, activation, or related product functions.

Limited technical information may be exchanged, such as:

  • Application version
  • License or activation status
  • Technical request and response information
  • Date and time of the connection

User-created simulation content is not transmitted as part of ordinary update or license validation unless the user explicitly submits it.

3.5 Third-Party Analytics and Advertising

E2M-Win does not integrate advertising networks or third-party behavioral analytics services such as Google Firebase Analytics.

4. E2M-iOS

4.1 Overview

E2M-iOS is a mobile electromagnetic simulation application. Electromagnetic simulation inputs, calculations, and user-created results are processed locally on the user’s device.

4.2 Firebase Analytics

E2M-iOS uses Google Firebase Analytics to obtain general information about application usage, stability, and performance.

Firebase Analytics may process information such as:

  • Application session and launch information
  • Screen views and navigation events
  • Application version
  • Device model
  • Operating system version
  • Language and regional settings
  • Screen resolution and device time zone
  • Firebase application instance identifier
  • Application update events
  • Crash-related or performance-related technical information

4.3 Information Not Requested by E2M-iOS

E2M-iOS does not request or intentionally collect:

  • Name, email address, or telephone number
  • Postal address
  • Precise location
  • Contacts or calendar information
  • Camera photographs or microphone recordings
  • Payment or financial information
  • Authentication credentials
  • User-created electromagnetic simulation models or results

4.4 Purpose of Analytics

Firebase Analytics information is used for:

  • Understanding general application usage
  • Identifying technical problems
  • Improving stability and performance
  • Improving application functionality and usability

4.5 Sharing and International Processing

Analytics information generated through Firebase Analytics is processed by Google. Google may process information in countries other than the user’s country of residence, including the United States.

ComPhysics does not sell E2M-iOS analytics information to advertisers or data brokers.

4.6 Local Simulation Data

Electromagnetic simulation projects, calculations, and exported results created within E2M-iOS remain locally stored on the device unless the user explicitly exports or shares them.

Deleting the application generally removes application data stored in its local container, subject to operating-system backups and copies previously exported by the user.

5. ComPhysics Green UV for iOS and Android

5.1 Overview

ComPhysics Green UV is a companion application for the ComPhysics UV optical indicator and dedicated smartphone optical accessory.

The application uses the smartphone camera to analyze visible green emission generated by the optical accessory.

The application can:

  • Display a relative UV signal
  • Compare reference and sample conditions
  • Save measurement photographs
  • Record changes in the measurement signal over time

5.2 No Automatic Transmission to ComPhysics

ComPhysics Green UV does not automatically transmit personal data, measurement data, photographs, sample names, notes, location data, device-orientation data, camera frames, or device identifiers to ComPhysics.

ComPhysics does not operate a cloud account, cloud measurement database, or remote measurement-storage service for ComPhysics Green UV.

5.3 Camera Access

The application requires camera access to display the selected smartphone camera and analyze the green emission visible through the dedicated ComPhysics optical accessory.

Camera frames are processed locally on the device. Live camera frames are not automatically uploaded to ComPhysics or to a third party.

A photograph is stored only when the user selects a save function or enables photograph recording during a measurement session.

5.4 Measurement Information

Depending on the function used, the application may locally create and store information including:

  • Relative UV signal values, including ComPhysics Relative UV (CRU)
  • Raw camera-channel measurement values
  • Reference and sample comparison values
  • Relative effective UV signal transmittance and blocking values
  • Measurement timestamps
  • Selected camera and lens information
  • Exposure, sensitivity, focus, and white-balance information
  • Region of Interest (ROI) position and size
  • Signal stability and quality information
  • Sample names and user-entered notes
  • Original photographs
  • Report photographs containing measurement information
  • CSV, JSON, JPEG, and PDF files
  • Optional location coordinates
  • Optional device-orientation or device-pose information

This information is created to provide the requested measurement, comparison, recording, reporting, and export functions.

5.5 Location Access

When the user begins a recording session, the application may request permission to access the device’s location.

Location access is used only to add optional measurement coordinates to a local measurement record.

Location information is not used for:

  • Advertising
  • Behavioral profiling
  • Language selection
  • Automatic transmission to ComPhysics

The application continues to provide measurement and comparison functions when location permission is denied. If permission is denied, location fields are left empty or unavailable.

ComPhysics Green UV does not require continuous background location tracking for its ordinary measurement functions.

5.6 Device Motion and Orientation

The application may access device-motion or orientation sensors to attach optional device-pose information to a measurement record.

Device-motion and orientation information is processed and stored locally and is not automatically transmitted to ComPhysics.

On iOS, the operating system may request motion permission. On Android, access to ordinary orientation sensors may be handled according to the Android version and device manufacturer.

5.7 Local Storage

Measurement records, photographs, CSV files, JSON files, PDF reports, settings, sample names, notes, and optional location or pose information are stored in the application’s local or application-specific storage.

Application settings, including language and measurement preferences, are stored locally on the device.

The application may read locally stored file timestamps to display and sort saved measurement sessions.

5.8 User-Initiated Sharing and Export

Measurement information leaves the application’s local storage only when the user explicitly performs an action such as:

  • Using the iOS share function
  • Using the Android share or export function
  • Saving a copy to a user-selected folder
  • Sending files through email, messaging, cloud storage, or another application

When the user selects a third-party application or service for sharing, the information is processed according to the privacy policy of that third party.

ComPhysics does not control how a user-selected external service processes shared files.

5.9 Data Not Collected by ComPhysics Green UV

ComPhysics Green UV does not automatically collect or transmit the following information to ComPhysics:

  • Name, email address, or telephone number
  • Postal address
  • Payment or financial information
  • Contacts
  • Calendar information
  • Microphone recordings
  • Authentication credentials
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Browsing history
  • Health or medical records
  • Measurement photographs
  • Measurement results
  • Location or device-pose records

5.10 Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking

ComPhysics Green UV does not include:

  • Advertising SDKs
  • Advertising networks
  • Third-party analytics SDKs
  • Cross-application tracking technologies
  • Behavioral advertising systems
  • Developer-operated cloud measurement storage

ComPhysics does not sell, rent, or provide ComPhysics Green UV measurement data to advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies.

5.11 Platform Permissions

Depending on the operating system and features used, permissions may include:

  • Camera: Required to display and analyze green emission from the dedicated optical accessory.
  • Location while in use: Optional and used to save measurement coordinates during a recording session.
  • Motion or device orientation: Used to save optional device-pose information.
  • Photo, file, or storage access: May be used when the user chooses to save, open, share, or export measurement files, depending on the operating-system version.

The application requests permissions in connection with the feature that requires them.

Users may manage permissions through the privacy or application settings of iOS or Android.

5.12 Retention and Deletion

Locally stored measurement sessions remain on the device until the user deletes the session, clears the application’s data, or deletes the application.

Deleting the application generally removes information stored in the application’s local container or application-specific storage.

However, the following may remain:

  • Copies previously exported or shared by the user
  • Copies stored in user-selected folders
  • Copies stored by third-party cloud or messaging services selected by the user
  • Copies contained in operating-system or device backups

ComPhysics cannot remotely delete files that were never transmitted to or stored by ComPhysics.

5.13 Measurement and Safety Notice

ComPhysics Green UV provides relative measurement and comparison information.

It is not:

  • An absolute UV irradiance meter
  • A certified spectroradiometer
  • A medical device
  • A safety-certification system
  • An official UV transmittance test instrument

Measurement values may vary according to the smartphone model, physical camera, camera settings, optical accessory, mounting position, distance, angle, wavelength distribution, ambient light, and measurement geometry.

A low application signal does not establish that a UV source is safe or that no hazardous ultraviolet radiation is present.

6. Information Voluntarily Submitted for Support

Users may voluntarily contact ComPhysics by email or through the website for technical or customer support.

Support information may include:

  • Name and email address
  • Application version
  • Device model and operating-system version
  • Problem description
  • Screenshots
  • Diagnostic information
  • Measurement or project files voluntarily attached by the user

ComPhysics uses voluntarily submitted information to respond to the inquiry, investigate the issue, provide support, maintain communication records, and meet legal obligations.

Users should remove confidential, sensitive, or unnecessary personal information before sending diagnostic or measurement files.

7. Data Sharing

ComPhysics does not sell personal information.

Information may be disclosed only when reasonably necessary:

  • To a service provider used to operate the website or a declared product function
  • To respond to a user’s explicit request
  • To protect the rights, safety, property, or security of users or ComPhysics
  • To comply with applicable law, regulation, court order, or governmental request

8. Data Security

ComPhysics uses reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information under its control.

No method of electronic storage, device storage, or internet transmission is completely secure.

Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their devices, operating-system accounts, exported files, backups, and any third-party services used to share information.

9. Children’s Privacy

ComPhysics products are intended primarily for professional, research, engineering, educational, or supervised technical use.

ComPhysics Green UV and its associated optical accessory are intended for users aged 14 or older or for younger users under appropriate adult supervision.

ComPhysics does not knowingly request personal information directly from children under the age required by applicable law.

If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information to ComPhysics, please contact us.

10. User Choices and Rights

Depending on applicable law and the type of information involved, users may have rights to request access, correction, restriction, objection, or deletion of personal information held by ComPhysics.

These rights apply only to information that ComPhysics actually possesses or controls.

ComPhysics cannot access, retrieve, or remotely delete Green UV measurement data that remains solely on the user’s device.

Users can control application permissions through the privacy or application settings provided by iOS, Android, or Windows.

11. International Data Processing

The ComPhysics website and certain declared third-party services may process information in countries other than the user’s country of residence.

For example, E2M-iOS analytics information may be processed by Google in countries where Google or its service providers operate.

ComPhysics Green UV measurement information is not automatically transmitted to ComPhysics or to a developer-operated cloud service.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

ComPhysics may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in products, technology, legal requirements, or data practices.

The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Material changes may also be communicated through the application, website, or store listing when appropriate.
