Features of E2M (Engineer with EM waves)
Engineer with EM Waves (E2M) is a native iOS application for one-dimensional electromagnetic analysis of layered structures. It is designed for engineers, researchers, and students who need to calculate optical and electromagnetic responses directly on an iPhone or iPad.
Key Features:
– One-Dimensional EM Solver: Analyze stacked (layered) structures directly on an iPhone or iPad.
– Comprehensive Analysis: Calculate reflectance, transmittance, and absorptance (RTA) as functions of incidence angle, layer thickness, and frequency.
– Polarization Control: Define complex TE and TM amplitudes to analyze linear, circular, and elliptical polarization states.
– Photonic Band Structures: Calculate TE and TM band structures for periodic layered systems.
– Material Library:
- Built-in integration with the refractiveindex.info database provides access to published optical constants. For materials specified by complex refractive index ñ, E2M assumes a non-magnetic medium (μr = 1) and calculates the complex relative permittivity as εr = ñ².
- User-Defined Materials: Define linear, homogeneous, isotropic (LHI) materials, including double-negative (DNG) metamaterials.
– Flexible Domain Settings: Express the calculation domain in frequency (THz), wavelength (μm), or photon energy (eV).
– Data Export: Export numerical data in CSV format and save figures through the iOS Files app or email for further analysis.
Free Mode: Design structures with up to three layers and apply unlimited periodic repetition to the defined group. This supports many academic calculations and case studies without a subscription.
