ComPhysics CP-UV01
Battery-free UV visualization for direct observation and relative comparison
The CP-UV01 is a passive optical UV indicator developed by ComPhysics. Suitable UVA/UVB input produces a visible green response, allowing users to observe UV presence and compare relative transmission under controlled, repeatable conditions.

What the CP-UV01 is—and what it is not
The CP-UV01 uses passive optical wavelength conversion. It does not contain an electronic UV sensor, display, or battery. The visible green response is useful for visual indication and relative comparison, such as comparing two windows or lenses under the same UV source and geometry.
It is not a calibrated UV radiometer. It does not report irradiance in W/m², UV Index, dose, or exposure limits, and must not replace certified medical, safety, occupational, or laboratory instruments.
How it works
Convert an invisible UV response into visible light
When suitable ultraviolet radiation reaches the CP-UV01 conversion structure, part of that input is emitted as visible green light. Response strength depends on wavelength, intensity, distance, angle, ambient light, and the material being tested.
For meaningful comparisons, keep those conditions as consistent as possible and compare the visible response rather than treating it as an absolute measurement.

Complete Kit
Observe directly or record with a smartphone
The Complete Kit combines the CP-UV01 body with the CP-UV01-SA smartphone adapter and a detachable light shield. The shield reduces ambient light near the viewing area; the adapter positions the device over a smartphone camera for recording and comparison with the free ComPhysics Green UV app.
- CP-UV01 body × 1
- CP-UV01-SA smartphone adapter × 1
- Detachable light shield × 1
- Smartphone not included

Example comparisons
Typical demonstrations include relative UV response from different light sources and relative UV transmission through windows, sunglasses, lenses, films, and fabrics.

CP-UV01 questions and answers
Can CP-UV01 respond to UVA and UVB?
The device can produce a visible response to suitable UVA/UVB input. Response varies with wavelength and intensity, so it should be used for indication and controlled relative comparison rather than absolute spectral measurement.
Can it compare UV-blocking materials?
Yes. Windows, lenses, films, and fabrics can be compared when the same source, distance, angle, ambient lighting, and viewing or camera settings are maintained.
Do I need the smartphone app?
No. The green response can be observed directly. The optional free app helps record and compare the response with a compatible smartphone camera.
Who develops and supplies the CP-UV01?
ComPhysics develops and supplies the CP-UV01 and its supporting software. International online orders are dispatched from the Republic of Korea, with destination-specific options shown in the cart.
